The game is afoot! We have a new Holmes on the scene. Enola Holmes (Millie Bobby Brown) the younger sister of well known Sherlock (Henry Cavill) and Mycroft Holmes (Sam Claflin) takes on the mantle in an effort to solve a mystery close to her heart, the disappearance of her mother Mrs. Holmes (Helena Bonham Carter).
From the trailer we learn a lot about Enola and her family. I like that there’s this new part of the Holmes world that hasn’t been explored before. I also love the way this movie is filmed, Enola’s constant piece to camera (breaking the fourth wall) reminds me of movies like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Alfie and Amélie. The only thing that has me questioning the film is when Enola “disguises” herself as a lady, something her brothers will never expect. It reminds me of A Cinderella Story where Austin (and for that matter everyone else at the school) don’t recognise Sam because of a mask! Ridiculous. I have a feeling Sherlock figures it out though.
I really love the cast and think it will be a great fit within the Netflix original film section.
Enola Holmes also stars Adeel Akhtar, Fiona Shaw, Frances De La Tour, Louis Partridge and Susan Wokoma.
