It was quite an eventful morning as we made our way to the Sydney Harbour Bridge waiting in anticipation for the announcement of the 2016 AACTA Longford Lyell Award recipient.
With so many possibilities we were intrigued to see who it would be. Upon arriving at Circular Quay we received notice that in fact the press conference would now take place at The Star. Then came the moments I could only describe as being like a scene from a movie. Or maybe more like an episode of The Amazing Race, minus the whole ‘figuring out the clue’ element. It was a rush against time!
We made it with 30mins to spare. And so we waited. Then came the news that the 2016 Longford Lyell Award recipient was in fact Mr. Crocodile Dundee himself, Paul Hogan.
AACTA President Geoffrey Rush was on hand to introduce Australian comedian Shane Jacobson who was the MC for the announcement.
