The highly anticipated trailer for the new Guy Ritchie directed film King Arthur: Legend of the Sword has been released. Can we just say, blimey, what an adventure this will be. Growing up we had our usual tales of King Arthur and the sword in the stone, beloved classics such as Disney’s The Sword in the Stone and Quest for Camelot (some good sing-a-long material there) so having obviously matured past the stage of Disney animated loving films it’s great to see something the peaks our curiosity and takes us out of that normal ‘what to expect’ type of mind frame when it comes to medieval knights and whatnot.
I’m getting Baz Luhrmann Romeo + Juliet vibes from this trailer, and obviously certain moments reminding me of techniques used on Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes films. The official trailer premiered at Comic Con and stars Hollywood favourites such as Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Aidan Gillen, Jude Law and Aussie favourite Eric Bana. David Beckham has also previously spoken about his small role in the film. The editing achieved what it sets out to do; this trailer is a great introduction, great use of music. I’m going to say it, I think this will be a top 10 2017 film for sure. Judging by the trailer it will be a tale told in the most epic of proportions!
