Finding Nemo was perfection. A truly great film that tugged at the heartstrings from start to finish. Disney/Pixar created a modern day classic. Right there. Modern day classic. At the time I felt it was great the way it was. A stand alone film, that should be just that. Nothing to come before or after it. The combination of characters, central around the journey from the Great Barrier Reef to 42 Wallaby Way Sydney was spot on. For those of you whom -shock, horror- haven’t seen Finding Nemo, SPOILER ALERT Marlin finds Nemo in the end and that’s how it should have ended.
Over a decade later we’ve been introduced to a new story. Finding Dory. I must admit, at first I wasn’t wild about it. Hearing Ellen Degeneres announce years ago, that there would be a story focusing on Dory, I had my reservations. Upon viewing the first trailer, honestly, I wasn’t that thrilled with the new story. Not just that, and I know, It’s been a decade but the voices sound different. It really disappointed me. I took the matter to social media and many felt differently, not just about the new plot but the voices. So I thought, maybe I was wrong. Watching it again, I started to come to their side. Then the second trailer came out and whilst I definitely have come to like the plot more, certain aspects are still throwing me. So, save for my initial reaction, I will definitely be watching the film and we’ll have to take it from there. For now, watch the trailers and let me know what you think.
