Talk about making an entrance! The sun was perched high in the sky on Thursday September 3rd, when Hugh Jackman and Levi Miller, stars of the upcoming feature film PAN, arrived aboard the ‘Jolly Roger’ also known as Polly Woodside, in Melbourne for the release of PAN.
PAN based on the beloved characters developed by J.M. Barrie, are brought to life by director Joe Wright (Atonement, Pride & Prejudice) in this new original adventure. A 12-year-old rebellious orphan, Peter (Levi Miller), is one night transported to a magical world of pirates, warriors and fairies. Neverland. His journey begins as he fights life or death battles, whilst trying to unlock secrets to his past, and make his place in this new land.
Newfound friends help Peter along the way, in the form of Tiger Lily (Rooney Mara) and James Hook (Garrett Hedlund). On the other side of the scale we find Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman). Peter must defeat the ruthless pirate and save Neverland. All the while discovering his true destiny, to become a hero that will forever be known as Peter Pan.
In all honesty I saw the trailer seated in the cinemas and judging from what I saw, I’m extremely excited to see PAN. Not just because it is cast incredibly well, but from what I could see, the development of the story, as well as the sets and special effects had me completely enthralled. It reminded me of Treasure Planet cross between Atlantis. Specifically the mechanics and effects, such as flying and thrill binding swooping, used to convey different sensations within the trailer. This is a sign of great things to come, definitely my kind of adventure. I was hooked.
