We take one final look at Into the Woods, prior to it’s Australian release tomorrow. Over the past few weeks Disney have released exclusive clips and featurettes, introducing audiences to pivotal characters and the music behind the film.
The story revolves around The Baker (James Corden) and The Baker’s wife (Emily Blunt), and the way their story weaves through the lives of other fairytale characters. These include, Cinderella (Anna Kendrick) and her Prince (Chris Pine), Jack (Daniel Huttlestone), Little Red Riding Hood (Lilla Crawford), Rapunzel (Mackenzie Mauzy) and her Prince (Billy Magnussen). Another character that is central to the plot is The Witch (Meryl Streep), who from what we can see drives the reasoning behind the baker and his wife’s quest.
It is obviously a new fresh take on how things can appear to begin one way, but transform and change into something new. What happens after the fairytale ending, how things can change over the course of time. How you can be driven by a thought, an idea, or a want, which is also clear through the “I wish” concept.
Between the story and music, we’re sure this new modern approach will be a hit with audiences and really shine the light on some wonderful performances.
