I’ve always admired and respected Russell Crowe as an actor. Upon viewing the featurette, seen as the ‘first look’ at The Water Diviner, where Crowe narrates the behind the scenes look to his latest film and we note, his directorial debut, I knew Crowe had produced, created and achieved something profound.
A story that delves into the life of a father, Connor (Crowe) who throughout the film faces loss, love and rediscovery. The film stars Olga Kurylenko, Yilmaz Erdogan, Cem Yilmaz, Jai Courtney, Ryan Corr, James Fraser and Ben O’Toole in performances that will surely make an impact.
“A wonderful story and beautiful beating heart,” as Crowe explains, “an epic, brutal, romantic, heart wrenching and inspiring adventure of discovery, that proves what lies beyond good and evil is love.” Films that explore these themes tug at the heartstrings, an odyssey that redefines the very idea of ‘the road or path you take.’
The first official trailer is equally as gripping and enthralling. One particular part really intrigued me and has cemented my thought that Oscar nominations could be a possibility with this film.
The Water Diviner will be released in Australian and New Zealand cinemas on December 26 2014
