It was a fun night as Hilary Duff and Ariana Grande took to the X-Factor stage in Sydney to perform a variety of hits.
As Hilary Duff made her way onstage to perform her world exclusive live performance of All About Me, she was greeted by fans who started singing, ‘What Dreams Are Made Of.’ The title track from the Lizzie McGuire movie, the Disney role that made Duff a household name. The moment, touching and reaffirming the love Aussie fans have for the singer. Duffs last performance on stage was seven years ago, in Australia as she toured the country on her Dignity tour. When asked by X-Factor host Luke Jacobz, what she’s been doing over the seven years, she replied, ‘being a mum’ and more recently working on her soon to be released record. At the end of her performance she took the time to thank fans and even gave one lucky person the bandanna she used in her performance. Duff looked casual in jeans and a black vest, saying that her new album was definitely pop, but has a little bit of a twang to it. Duff still has that pop star quality that keeps fans (even after a seven year break) wanting more. Her song has flown up the charts and following her performance last night she sits at number 8 on the iTunes chart.
Earlier on in the day, the audience lined up outside waiting to enter the Fox Studios facilities where X-Factor is taped. We watched on as the ‘mosh’ line was opened to allow the crowd to ‘walk’ to the building where filming was due to commence. We’ve never witnessed anything close to a stampede, but last night we were given an idea as to what it might look like. Fans were so excited to get inside they pushed their way through the barriers against the cries and shouts coming from personnel and onlookers in different queues. More fans stood outside waiting to gain entry, with the international acts especially being a great drawcard for the X-Factor. Last night Jacobz announced more acts who will feature on the show in the coming weeks including, The Script, Ed Sheeran and Aussies Taylor Henderson, Nathaniel Willemse and 5 Seconds of Summer.
Fans went wild as Ariana Grande walked on stage, it was amazing to see the level of fandom amongst the audience. The star smiled on, appreciating the support from her fans. She wore a metallic sparkling leotard bodysuit, with black Louboutin thigh high boots. As she danced around, she flicked her signature half up, half down hairdo to her tracks, Problem, Bang Bang and Break Free. The starlet collaborated with Aussie hip hop star Iggy Azalea on Problem, with Grande saying Azalea is so talented and so down to earth, with Grande loving her Aussie accent. Fans sung along to the three tracks, Break Free (featuring Zedd) sending the crowd into overdrive as she made her way along the platforms holding fans hands. The singer known for her role as Cat in Nickelodeons Victorious arrived at Sydney airport yesterday as fans who stood for hours waited with flowers and gifts to shower the star with. Jacobz asked Grande about she deals with the pressures and demands and what advice she would give, Grande replied that you should keep your family and your friends close and to keep your head on straight. Adding, ‘don’t listen to anything, unless it comes from your family.’ She has taken the world by storm, a pop sensation that has dominated the charts over the past year. Grande has an incredible voice and her live performances are spectacular.
Ariana Grande will perform on Sunrise (Ch7) this morning (Tuesday) and Hilary Duff will also perform on Sunrise this Thursday.
We can’t wait to see what comes next for these two starlets. We’re hoping, they both tour Australia in 2015.
